Bikers with passion

Your hosts at Hotel Sonnleiten, Melanie and Walter, are passionate bikers and are happy to pass on their personal touring tips to their guests. We look forward to meeting like-minded guests with whom we can share our passion.

With biker greetings,
Your hosts Walter and Melanie

Melanie

My first memorable experience on a motorbike was a ride with my father along gravel roads in the forests of Tux – I was excited. From that point on it was clear: When I’m 18, I am going to get my motorcycle license. No sooner said than done – my license was in my pocket. My education was a top priority, of course, so I didn’t actually have a bike to call my own until 3 years later – a Suzuki Bandit 600 that took me on my very first tours. Later I switched to a Honda Hornet and a Supermoto-customized KTM 520.

In 2010, I then added my KTM Superduke 990. Currently I am riding a KTM Duke 690, which is ideal for our winding roads in the Alps.I am always more than happy to share my passion for biking with our guests and, if you wish, I’ll be glad to accompany you on your tours through and around our beautiful Alps, showing you some of the most beautiful places and routes.

Melanie's favourite route

Best of all I like to ride through the nearby countryside, where there are lots of unknown and small, beautiful and little-driven side roads and bends. And up on the “Höhenstraße”, of course, with its sensational views and great huts that serve traditional Zillertal foods.

Walter

Even in early childhood, I dreamed of riding a motorcycle. So, it should come as no surprise that at the age of just 8 years old, I was already wreaking havoc on the fields and forest paths with my father's Honda Monkey and later with a Motocross Kawasaki 80 cc.

At the age of 16, I was finally able to get my motorbike license and officially drive on public roads with a two-wheel, motorized vehicle. From a street motorcycle and motocross to Supermoto, i have tried everything out over the years. Today, however, my passion is the Enduro: now I can live out my yearning for adventure, always discovering and enjoying something new. And rest assured  – I feel absolutely at home on the streets of Tyrol. On our accompanied tours, we (Melanie or Walter) will take you on the best routes to the most beautiful places in Tyrol. Depending on your biking skills and preferences, we will recommend suitable tours and the most wonderful winding routes in and around the Zillertal.

I got to know, and fell in love with my wife Melanie out motorcycle riding. It was only natural, then, for us both to want to run the family business, which I took over in 2004, as a motorcycle hotel.
Especially since Bruck is the perfect location for a variety-packed, fun-filled motorcycle vacation in Tyrol.

Walter's favourite route

My favorite ride on a street bike is out to the Stillupgrund and Zillergrund. It’s a great blend of nature and motor sport. My favorite enduro event is the Erzberg Rodeo. “There’s nothing better than going full throttle through constantly changing countryside.”
